Surrey County Council in the UK will choose between two contractors for its highways maintenance contract after dropping three of the five shortlisted firms.

Balfour Beatty and May Gurney will compete for the six-year contract, with an option to extend for a further four years.

The £200m ($308m) contract includes core maintenance throughout the county to begin from May next year.

The work covers maintenance and repairs of carriageways and footways, winter maintenance, replacement and cleaning of signs, surfacing works, and other civil engineering projects, according to cnplus.co.uk.

Enterprise, Colas and Skanska Infrastructure Services were the shortlisted contractors dropped by the council.
