The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) is planning to lower the speed limit for vehicles passing through the electronic toll collection systems on the nation’s highways.

The speed limit is expected to be lowered from 50km/h (31mph) to 30km/h (18.5mph) in toll collection areas under the new regulation.

The KNPA will complete the installation of new road signs and repair roads on highways nationwide by August this year, according to traffictechnologytoday.com.

The rule follows the death of 13 people after a tourist bus plunged from an elevated roadway after passing through a toll area in South Korea on 10 July.
