The modernisation of the 1,149km of highways and maintenance of 900km of road will soon begin in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

With a cost of $551m, the three-year infrastructural investments are expected to total $1.7bn.

The multi-year project involves highway twinning, interchange, realignment, construction, repaving and maintenance works.

Around 42 bridges are also expected to be replaced for security reasons on the transportation network.

The construction is scheduled to begin in a few weeks time, according to saskatoonhomepage.ca.
