Irish-owned civil engineering group McArdle has won a €100m contract for the M25 motorway widening project around Greater London.

The contract has been awarded by the project’s operator Skanska-Balfour.

The company will work on a 60km section of the motorway.

The work includes site clearance and earthworks on Sections 1, 4 and 6 of the motorway, which involves moving over six million tons of soil and aggregates by lorry.

The contract is for a period of three years.

The company says that the project is the largest it has ever worked on, according to belfasttelegraph.co.uk.
