Intuicom, a US-based company that supplies wireless intelligent transportation systems (ITS), has secured the Wireless Traffic Communications Expansion contract in the town of Castle Rock, Colorado.

This contract has been awarded to the company in conjunction with the town’s Transportation and Traffic Network Expansion programme, which is presently under deployment.

The town of Castle Rock selected Intuicom’s BroadBand Solutions (BBS) radios because of its extended range, security features and capacity.

"At speeds up to 108Mbps, Intuicom BroadBand Solutions are engineered to address the extended range and throughput requirements demanded by the Town of Castle Rock’s bandwidth intensive applications."

Intuicom director of sales and business development Dan Paladino said: "With the rapid growth that the Front Range has been experiencing, agencies are looking for cost-effective, yet secure solutions to extend their transportation networks.

"At speeds up to 108Mbps, Intuicom BroadBand Solutions are engineered to address the extended range and throughput requirements demanded by the Town of Castle Rock’s bandwidth intensive applications.

"We are proud to be a part of this forward-looking initiative."

The firm’s technology offers wireless interconnect for the town’s traffic signal controllers and helps centralised monitoring and management of the entire traffic network from the town’s Traffic Operations Center (TOC).

Over the last decade, the town’s population has increased by more than 175%, which prompted it to upgrade the transportation network.

The town aims to deploy a transportation system that will reduce driver delays and better serve the community’s transportation needs.
