Salzburg-based access solutions provider Skidata has secured a contract from the city of Amsterdam to provide parking technologies and services for over 25,000 parking spaces in 22 garages.

The technologies include paying by mobile phone and the introduction of electronic ticketing (e-ticketing).

At the initial stage of the project, Skidata will equip four parking garages in the Zuidoost district.

Under the deal, the company will have to equip another four parking garages in Zuidoost, along with an extra fourteen in the city centre and other areas of Amsterdam.

Zuidoost has over 11,200 parking spaces, which include the Heineken Music Hall (HMH), Amsterdam Ajax Arena (Ajax Amsterdam Stadium), the Ziggo Dome and a large shopping centre, as well as several office buildings.

More than 10,000 additional parking transactions are made on days when events take place.

The company will provide parking facilities equipped with the latest technologies, including EMV integration for debit or credit cards, license plate recognition, mobile phone payments and printed tickets from home through QR/Print@Home codes.

Under the scope of the deal, Skidata will provide a range of services to the city of Amsterdam.

The Skidata services feature a multi-year contract for several parking facilities including support and maintenance; management of all facilities through a central control room; providing both on-street and off-street parking, including a mobile payment solution; as well as several connections to parking providers, Ticketmaster, external web-shops and public transport networks.
