Spanish telecommunications service provider Libelium has unveiled the new version of its Waspmote Plug&Sense! Smart Parking solution at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2016.

Libelium’s smart parking solution enables motorists to quickly locate available parking lots.

The device can be easily installed on roads as unlike other devices, it does not require digging a hole in the ground for installation, but can be simply mounted on the road surface.

The new system reduces installation time from 30 minutes to five minutes, making it cost-effective.

This device can also be replaced by another unit in ten minutes.

The new version of Waspmote Plug&Sense! Smart Parking is 50% smaller, and enables higher accuracy and reliability, as well as faster time of detection.

Its readings are not affected by changing temperatures.

The new system is compatible with LPWAN radio technologies, LoRaWAN and Sigfox, which facilitate long-range and low-power consumption.

It can be linked with both radios for the European 868 MHz band and the 900-930 MHz band, while enabling the use of both radio technologies at the same time or change from one to the other easily from the cloud.

The sensor system allows one base station to deliver service to thousands of devices across a range of several kilometres in an urban locality, thereby significantly reducing the number of base stations.

Additionally, it allows low-power operation, which helps extend the battery life up to 10 years.

The technology is equipped with remote management and bidirectional communication facilities that allow changing several parametres of the nodes from the cloud.

As a result, thousands of nodes can be reprogrammed by setting the right values from the web browser in the management platform.
