corridor

Isolux Corsan has built two new road sections of the North-South road corridor in Armenia.

The $250m project is financed by the Asian Development Bank and co-financed by the Armenian Government.

President Serzh Sarkisian attended the opening ceremony of the corridor.

Sections two and three respectively connect Yerevan-Artashat and Yerevan-Ashtarak.

The North-South road corridor is an important link between Armenia and Iran, and through Georgia, with the Black Sea.

Section two involved the expansion and reconstruction work of the M2 Highway that links the capital city of Yerevan with the city of Artashat.

This road stretches for 20km and has three lanes each way, making it a six-lane project.

The project also includes the complete renovation of the existing pavement that has been replaced with a concrete pavement, and the reconstruction of the entries and exits of the highway, as well as its drainage ditches.

The 11km long four-lane section three of the M1 Highway has been rebuilt between the cities of Yerevan and Ashtarak.

The alignment of the road has been modified in each of the two-lane carriageways, which are now made of concrete.

Isolux Corsan is also constructing a 42km-long highway with two-lane carriageways connecting Ashtarak and Talin, north-west of Yerevan. This highway will connect with section three.
