Transdev has ordered 180 of Parkeon’s Wayfarer6 driver consoles to operate automatic fare collection systems on certain UK bus routes.

To be installed across the operator’s entire fleet in Lancashire, the new generation Wayfarer6 ticketing platform aims at support the NoWcard concessionary scheme and Transdev’s commercial ITSO products.

The driver console will also act as a real-time data hub connected to a new centralised cloud-based back office developed by Parkeon.

Featuring a high-performance, 32-bit processor, the Wayfarer6 enables fast transaction processing and printing, and comes with multi-format, contactless capabilities, barcode reading, 4G connectivity, location-aware SatNav/route learning and a touchscreen option.

The solution also provides automatic destination updating, two-way driver messaging, RTI and fleet management, third-party integration covering scheduling systems, vehicle telematics, voice radio systems, CCTV and passenger Wi-Fi.

In addition, the solution communicates with Parkeon’s back office, offering web-based reporting and system configuration, to deliver a centralised back office covering Blazefield and York operations.

Installation of the system is scheduled for completion by mid-2016.

According to Transdev, the uprated Wayfarer200 console will feature in an EMV contactless card reader trial on route 36 from York to Sutton-upon-Derwent towards the end of the year.
