VolkerFitzpatrick-Junction 10A of M1

UK Transport Minister Andrew Jones has opened the remodelled Junction 10A of the M1 near Luton, Bedfordshire.

The Junction 10A improvements project was carried out by UK-based engineering and construction firm VolkerFitzpatrick.

The new roundabout connects the M1 spur to the key Airport Way and London Road routes.

The project, which received £25m in government funding, will allow easier access to Luton Airport, reduce congestion and open up local housing and employment developments in the future.

The £30m project has reduced the queues and congestion that motorists earlier experienced at the junction and significantly improved the safety and reliability of journey times for motorists and business transport.

Jones also broke ground on the Woodside Link road to mark the start of the main construction phase.

Following £25m of government funding, the project will improve commercial links between Houghton Regis and the M1 to support Bedfordshire’s economic growth and housing delivery.

Jones said: "These schemes will make it easier for people to access Luton Airport and the M1, providing better journeys for residents and businesses and supporting more housing and jobs.

"The government is committed to investing in faster and more reliable transport links. These road schemes are part of our long-term economic plan to deliver benefits for everyone."
