As part of the new project, Indra will equip and supply the technology necessary for the traffic management centre and install more than 200 permanent traffic sensors.

"Within the new traffic monitoring system, Indra will also gather and integrate data from approximately 3,000 locations throughout the city."

Within the new traffic monitoring system, Indra will also gather and integrate data from approximately 3,000 locations throughout the city.

Different technologies would primarily be integrated for detecting vehicles, with radar systems, loops, video cameras, as well as weighing systems, all of which communicate with the Kuwaiti municipality’s traffic data centre.

The company also plans to run an advanced traffic data management system, which will make the systems available to different public bodies responsible for the city’s traffic and mobility.

The system will also be available for those which may be affected, such as maintenance teams, emergency services, police and offers efficient and sustainable mobility.

Indra’s new technology is set to contribute toward improving the city’s mobility management, increasing security and operations.

According to Indra, through the new project, Kuwait City is set to join others such as London, Madrid, Dublin, Medellin, Curitiba or Manila.

Indra recently won a ticketing contract in Saudi Arabia to implement all of the ticketing and access control systems for the new public transportation system which is being developed with six metro lines and a fleet of almost 1,000 buses in Riyadh.
