Qatar public works authority Ashghal is set to start work on Phase IV of its C-Ring Road Project on 15 August.

Ashghal explained that the reason behind starting works on the Phase IV before Phase II is to prevent the overlap between the works of the C-Ring Road project and those of a new expressway project that will begin in the near future.

The project will see the development of a signalised pedestrian crossing for all four crossings at each of the new intersections, as well as signal-controlled intersections that are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion during peak hours.

"With the addition of a fourth lane, capacity on C-Ring Road is expected to increase by approximately 25%."

Work on Phase IV will last for approximately five months and will include a new fourth lane, in addition to maintaining and repaving the existing three lanes. Throughout the construction period, two lanes will remain open to traffic in both directions to minimise disruption.

With the addition of a fourth lane, capacity on C-Ring Road is expected to increase by approximately 25%.

Work on C-Ring Road will take roughly two and a half months and once this section is complete, work will start on the ‘feeder’ roads leading from C-Ring Road, including Ali Bin Taleb Road and the Salwa Road extension.

Upon completion, the entire project is expected to enhance the road design and increase its capacity to accommodate projected traffic increases.
