Amey

Ferrovial Services’ UK subsidiary Amey has been selected as the preferred bidder by Staffordshire County Council in the UK for the county’s highways maintenance contract.

The contract, which is expected to worth about £80m, will be valid for ten years, with possible extensions up to 20 years; however, the final value is dependent on the final scope of the partnership.

Amey will commence negotiations with Staffordshire County Council in the next few weeks in order to determine the scope of the services under the proposed contract.

Accordingly, the project is expected to include certain municipal services, in addition to road maintenance.

According to Ferrovial, the new contract will strengthen Amey’s pre-existing relationship with Staffordshire County Council, where it has been maintaining roads since 1998.

"This is a unique opportunity to work with a progressive council."

Amey chief executive Mel Ewell said: "This is a unique opportunity to work with a progressive council to develop a relationship that will enhance services for the people of Staffordshire.

"We will place a strong focus on supporting and investing in the local community for many years to come, to promote prosperity and skills across the county."

This development follows Amey’s recent success to be named as preferred bidder for highway maintenance contract in Gloucestershire, UK.

Under the contract, Amey will manage and maintain 10,000km of roads, provide winter maintenance services as well as deliver highway improvement schemes to local authorities, beginning April this year.
