Tesla Supercharger

Tesla Motors has opened new Supercharger locations connecting the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria.

The charging infrastructure will provide Tesla’s Model S electric car customers with free, convenient, 100% electric trips on the German autobahn, as well as to destinations in the Alps and elsewhere.

Strategically installed along well-travelled highways, Supercharger stations are located near amenities such as roadside restaurants, cafes and shopping centres.

Telsa’s German Superchargers connect Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich, as well as connect the German network to Amsterdam, Zurich, and Innsbruck.

Superchargers will also connect Amsterdam to Cologne and Brussels, while the charging stations link Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland.

"There are now 80 Supercharger locations installed across the world."

About half of the population in Germany will live within 320km of a Supercharger by the end of March, with 100% expected to be covered by the end of the year.

The Tesla Supercharger provides up to 120kw of Direct Current (DC) power directly to the Model S battery with the help of special cables that bypass the onboard charging equipment, and completes half a charge in nearly 20 minutes.

Tesla’s first six Superchargers were installed in California in September 2012.

The first network of Supercharger stations in Europe opened in Norway last year. There are now 80 Supercharger locations installed across the world, with 14 locations in Europe alone.
