The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in the US will open phase two of the Page Avenue extension (Highway 364) in St. Charles County on 30 August 2012.

The $101m six-mile highway is expected to ease traffic congestions and improve safety.

The Harvester Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive stretch has been upgraded to four-lanes in each direction, while the section from Kisker to Mid Rivers Mall Drive has been widened into three lanes in each direction.

The project has also constructed new interchanges at Jungermann, Kisker roads, Central School and Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

St. Charles County executive Steve Ehlmann was quoted by St. Louis as saying that: "We have a beautiful new highway running through the most important transportation corridor in the county."

The project was financed from the state and federal transportation funds, federal stimulus funds, as well as the $3.7m and $2m contributions from St. Charles County’s half-cent transportation sales tax and St. Peters, respectively.

Phase two of Highway 364 was completed two months earlier than the original date of opening.

The $100m worth final and the third phase of the highway is expected to start in December 2014, after the department will award the contract in March 2013.

MoDOT will contribute $50m for the final phase, while the county’s transportation tax and the federal Surface Transportation Program will each extend $25m for the project.
