Oman Transport and Communications Ministry has awarded 15 transport improvement projects worth RO203m ($527m).

Oman Transport and Communications Minister Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi said the contracts are part country’s effort to build a world-class road network in the Sultanate.

"The work is underway to implement a number of projects, bridges and crossroads to these roads," Futaisi said.

Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company won a contract worth RO50.87m ($132.12m) for the construction of the 46km Izz – Adam dual carriageway. United Engineering and Contracting Company secured a RO31.99m ($83.08m) contract to construct the 30.3km Wadi Al Sahattin road in the wilayat of Al Rustaq, in the South Al Batinah governorate.

The Oman ministry awarded a RO30.04m ($78.02m) contract to the United Omani Contractors Company to carry out a 17km Farq – Marfaa Daris dual carriageway project in the wilayat of Nizwa, in the Al Dakhiliyah governorate.

Oman struck a RO26.61m ($69.11m) deal with Larsen & Tubro for the construction of the first and second parts of the Mihlah-Ghubarat Al Tam-Ismaiyah road (47.3km) in the wilayat of Dima Wa Al Tayeen, in the North Al Sharqiyah area.

Ali & Cons Trading and Contracting Company won a RO17m ($44.15m) contract for the construction of a 28.5km road, linking Baeeq to Aqeer Al Ibriyeen (Wadi Shafan), in the wilayat of Al Khabourah in North Al Batinah governorate. Oman has signed a RO14.26m ($37.03m) contract with Khalid Bin Ahmed & Sons for the construction of a 35km road spanning from Al Mari to Al Ain in the Al Dhahirah area.

Omani United Contractors Company won RO12.39m ($32.17m) contract to build bridges over the Al Batinah dual carriageway for the first stage. For the second stage, an agreement worth RO8.67m ($22.51m) was signed with United Engineering and Contracting Company for the construction of bridges over the Al Batinah dual carriageway.

Galfar Engineering and Contracting has secured another deal worth RO6.49m ($16.85m) to build 24.4km Haima-Al Sahma road in the Al Wusta locality.

A RO1.29m ($3.35m) contract has been awarded to Dunes International Company, for design and construction of 9km of Wadi Al Qahfi road in the wilayat of Mahdha in the Al Buraimi governorate.

Nafl Road Construction Company was awarded a RO1.25m ($3.24m) contract to construct the roundabouts in of Al Mudhaibi, Al Kamil and Al Wafi. Dunes International also secured a RO985,000 ($2.55m) contract to build Arhab and Al Sininah roundabouts on the Ibri-Hafeet road.

The government signed a RO788,802 ($2.04m) deal with Oman United Engineering Services Company for the improvement of Al Shaebah, A’Suwaiq and Saham roundabouts on the Al Batinah road.

Rinard S.A & Co Engineering Consultancy secured a RO758,400 ($1.9m) contract to supervise construction of the Mihlah / Ghubarat Al Tam / Ismaieyah road in Dema Wal Tayyin in the North A’Sharqiyah governorate.

The transport ministry has awarded a RO544,150 ($1.4m) project to the Bin Khaldoun and Al Madain Engineering Consultancy Company, for the consultancy services for the design of water discharge installations on the Mirbat / Hasik road.
