The city of Auckland, New Zealand, installed a system combining smartmicro’s Multi Lane Traffic Radars, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in order to smoothen the traffic flow from the city centre to the airport.
The smartmicro radars measure vehicle’s speed differences in order to track vehicles that are closely packed. This data is then combined with the Bluetooth data that measures the travel time. The system already proved its worth as delays were decreased by up to 50% during peak traffic.
ITS International magazine featured an article in their March/April 2018 issue about the whole system and how it simplified the passenger’s journey.
