SES America and partners successfully installed and commissioned several dynamic message signs on RT 24 between mile marker 10 and 27 in Massachusetts. These signs will provide traffic information on this busy road between the Boston area and Southern Massachusetts. They are installed close by to other SESA signs used to display travel time information as part of the ‘Go Time’ project.
NTCIP Integration
Our Messenger 6000 is connected to MassDOT Traffic management Center using the latest version of NTCIP.
"We worked very efficiently with the DOT to test and integrate the signs prior to delivery" said SESA quality control and ITS maintenance manager Derek Corbo.
"We connected them remotely from our facility in Warwick, RI, and were able to perform all tests before shipping the signs to site. The DOT was able to connect and display messages from their traffic management centre. When we tested the sign at site everything went well and the signs were fully operational in just a few days."
Web server software and energy-efficiency
Our DMS are provided with the latest version of our SCU6 controller equipped with embedded web server software. This software provides tremendous benefits for maintenance like easy access to fault reports, test messages, firmware upgrade, etc. These controllers can be upgraded remotely at any time with newer versions available, and allow graphics and new pre-defined message configuration.
Messenger 6000’s energy efficiency will allow the DOT to lower operational costs, due to this series’ low-energy consumption. Thanks to the use of the latest LED generation and other efficient control features, this series is 30% less than the industry standard, without compromising visibility and brightness.
