Tata Steel Construction Products, the global manufacturer of steel solutions, has announced the launch of a new division Tata Steel Highways. Bringing together all the highways containment solutions previously available from a number of Tata Steel businesses – including Vetex™ and Protect 365© – Tata Steel Highways has been created to specifically address the needs and requirements of the highways industry.
Following on from the recent rebranding of all Corus subsidiaries to the Tata Steel Group, the launch of Tata Steel Highways provides customers with a complete product portfolio that enables them to access a full range of ‘end-to-end’ solutions in respect of their highways containment needs.
Sam McCloy, general manager Tata Steel Construction products, comments: “Corus has been pioneering the highways restraint systems for nearly 50 years. The launch of Tata Steel Highways division consolidates our understanding of the material properties of steel, as well as our in-depth experience of the construction, engineering and automotive sectors, under the auspices of one business to create value for our customers.”
Tangible benefits associated with the launch of Tata Steel Highways are twofold – as well as being able to access faster order processing, tracking and account management, customers will also be able to draw on the businesses technical engineering and support services to help them make an informed choice when it comes to specifying the right product to best meet specification requirements.
All of the products and solutions available from Tata Steel Highways have been developed to exceed the requirements of the European standard EN1317 for highways safety systems – meeting the long-term needs of the highways industry and delivering lifetime value once installed. Furthermore, dynamic testing by MIRA using EN1317 test criteria means that all product from Tata Steel Highways have been evaluated to perform in worst case scenarios.
McCloy continues: “Given our well-established stake in the road safety arena, the launch to market of Tata Steel Highways also heralds the businesses increased capacity for future product research and development. This will be evidenced by the launch of an exciting pipeline of new products in early 2011 – the development of which capitalised on those same advanced computer simulation modelling systems used to create our pioneering Protect 365 and the Vetex safety barrier systems.”
