HOG Technologies is melting the competition with its line of thermoplastic equipment. Whether you need something mounted to a chassis, a skid, or something small and compact, HOG Technologies has your total pavement solution.
HOG began with a desire to melt and apply thermoplastic in a more efficient way. After years of research and testing, the Themo HOG was born. Instead of using a traditional kettle, the Thermo HOG circulates heated oil through the melter, covering the entire surface. Since the surface is evenly heated, a Thermo HOG can shut down instantly without waiting for the thermoplastic to settle and cool at the bottom. This innovation also allows the Thermo HOG to achieve ultra-fast start-up times of around 1 hour.
With heated oil, the temperature in the kettle never exceeds 500°F, resulting in no scorched or charred material, as opposed to traditional kettles, which can get as hot as 2,000°F. The kettles can be built to any size and offer capacities as low as 4,000lb all the way up to 16,000lb. With two kettles for every truck, you can house up to 32,000lb or thermoplastic and melt them at rates up to 24,000lb an hour.
Traditional thermoplastic trucks can have up to nine burners. However, the Thermo HOG 8.0 and 16.0 use only one burner while the 32.0 uses two burners to accomplish the same, if not better, results.
After innovating this new technology, HOG Technologies transferred that innovation to a skid-based system. Their skids come in sizes as small as a twin 1,250lb all the way up to an 8,000lb skid. Depending on the model, the skids can also melt at rates of 2,000lb, 6,000lb and 8,000lb an hour, respectively. It uses the same melter technology as the Thermo HOG with temperatures never exceeding 500°F.
The skids also are available in single or dual-colour configurations and have the option to load the thermoplastic via a conveyor belt to reduce worker fatigue and strain.
In addition, HOG Technologies has introduced its brand-new Mini HOG. Slightly larger than a John Deere tractor, this small form factor machine can melt thermoplastic and apply it to the pavement without having to feed the thermoplastic into a separate application vehicle or device. The Mini HOG is the perfect solution for smaller jobs, such as parking lots, crosswalks and other road markings.
The Mini HOG comes with a shoe applicator that allows you to customise your line widths. The shoe has four doors that are 4in, 2in, 2in and 4in. Simply open the knives for the door(s) that you need in order to achieve your desired line width. You can also just open the outer 4in knives to perform a double line.
With these innovations, HOG Technologies has expanded its pavement marking lane with a wide variety of versatile solutions for any marking job. What began as the Thermo HOG has now become a family of thermoplastic products bringing unmatched innovation and performance to an industry that has relied on a more-than-30-year tried, true and inefficient method.
This is just another reason why HOG Technologies is your total pavement solution.
