International Road Dynamics (IRD) has announced that it has been awarded a contract valued at $1.1 million by Ridge Contracting of Anchorage, Alaska, US to supply and maintain WIM data-collection systems for the Alaska Department of Transportation.
The contract supports Alaska DOT’s traffic-data collection program and includes three WIM sites located at Minnesota Drive, Glenn Highway and Sterling Highway. The sites will be instrumented with IRD iSINC WIM electronics, single-load-cell WIM scales and bending-plate WIM scales. Under the contract IRD will provide three years of maintenance and service for the systems. Installation of the systems is expected to commence in May 2010.
Mr Terry Bergan, IRD’s president and chief executive officer, stated, “IRD is pleased to provide these weigh-in-motion systems to assist the Alaska Department of Transportation to meet their data collection objectives. This contract will provide significant revenue in the second and third quarters of 2010. The maintenance and service portion of the contract will provide consistent revenue over the long-term.
IRD has provided the Alaska DOT with approximately 30 lanes of WIM data-collection and commercial vehicle operations solutions over the past decade.”
