International Road Dynamics Inc (IRD) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to provide equipment maintenance, software maintenance, and on-call service for their statewide network of Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems at approximately 200 locations.
The service agreement extends from 14 June 2010 through 13 June 2013. The total value of this contract is CAD $2.89million.
Caltrans WIM systems provide 24-hour traffic information at key locations on California highways. The information collected includes a vehicle’s axle weights and gross weight, axle spacing, vehicle classification, and speed data. The information gathered is essential for pavement studies, highway monitoring and capacity studies, accident rate calculations, and analysis of truck transport practices.
IRD’s expertise and experience in the WIM Data Collection field allows customers to receive a complete package of products and services from one vendor. IRD offers design, manufacturing, installation, collection and post-processing of data, report generation and maintenance of data collection systems.
The IRD Service Support Team has over twenty-five years of technical and customer service experience and is able to manage all operational needs for Data Collection and other Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
