DSTA recently won a project to fully equip the Spanish cities of Oviedo and Lloret del Mar with their new product family: The New Urban VMS. DSTA has installed a series of RGB VMS’s in the main access and exit points of Oviedo and Lloret del Mar as well as key city locations. The project was a police initiative in order to facilitate the free flow of information in the city and help increase mobility and reduce congestion levels. This initiative is part of the European mobility project Sumobis.
According to the Oviedo town councilor, “These dynamic information displays are an important part of the Local Police’s technological modernisation plan. Thanks to these VMS’s, they can provide real time information to citizens regarding the current state of traffic, any road blocks or construction works, as well as recommended routes and free parking stations nearby.”
At the end of 2010, DSTA launched this new product family of VMS’s which are especially designed for city applications: The New Urban VMS is based on full matrix technology, is available in amber or full colour technology and several standard sizes are available depending on the council’s needs.
Not only do these URBAN solutions provide real time information on the traffic situation, facilitating city mobility and increasing city information, but also their mechanical, optical and functional characteristics are city friendly, meaning they can be perfectly integrated and read in any atmosphere…a busy road, a park, a historic monument.
