Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Electronics) today announced the launch of a Smart Car Park Platform, a cloud-based solution, as part of its WISX IoT Suite of Integrated Estate Management Solutions for Smart Cities, to address parking challenges faced worldwide. The Smart Car Park Platform leverages the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), smart video analytics and mobile payment technologies to provide efficient and convenient car parking services to motorists, as well as significant cost savings to car park operators.
With the technologies integrated in the Smart Car Park Platform, motorists can enjoy a smooth car parking experience. The ANPR technology and smart video analytics enables the automated reading of the motorists’ vehicle license plates for easy payment and car park access control. Vehicle Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, In-vehicle Units (IU) or access control cards used by existing car park systems will no longer be required with this platform.
The Smart Car Park Platform is also available through a mobile app, which allows motorists to perform parking activities with ease. These include making payment via multiple electronic payment modes, searching for available car park space, checking parking rates, booking parking space in advance, requesting for navigation aid to the nearest available parking space, as well as locating their parked vehicles.
For car park operators, the Smart Car Park Platform offers significantly lower costs in infrastructure and equipment set-up, as well as installation and maintenance, in comparison with the current systems installed in local car parks.
As a Cloud-based solution, it enhances operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness in managing carparks, as well as optimises the manpower resources required. It centralises all car park operations and maintenance management in one platform, and provides an overview of the car park’s status and occupancy. It also offers an added advantage in enabling car park operators to remotely manage multiple car parks at different locations.
Additionally, car park operators can also benefit from various value-added services provided by the centralised Smart Car Park Platform. These services include dynamic parking pricing to better manage the supply and demand of car park spaces, as well as an electronic car park booking system and a centralised service system for motorists. The Platform’s deep machine learning algorithm enables operators to optimise resource management and car park revenue.
ST Electronics president Mr Ravinder Singh said: "Leveraging technology as a mobility multiplier, ST Electronics has established its deep domain experience and expertise to design, build and implement intelligent transport systems (ITS) and Smart Cities Solutions to benefit Singapore and cities worldwide. We are confident the Smart Car Park Platform will provide an enhanced, seamless parking experience for motorists and allow greater cost savings for car park operators. It will also play an important role in helping to shape and transform the car park operations of cities, locally and globally."
ST Electronics has an extensive track record and proven capabilities in deploying large-scale ITS solutions in Singapore and globally, including Asia, Australia, Europe, Kazakhstan, the Middle East, and the US. In Singapore, ST Electronics had successfully implemented the Expressway Monitoring Advisory System (EMAS) for Major Arterial Roads, Electronic Junction Eyes, i-Transport and TrafficScan for the Land Transport Authority.
