The situation has been unsolved for years with significant protests from the residential community. The protests were articulated through large banners on the street, protest marches, political pressure through the local press and petitions to the local parliament and city counsel.

The protests were listened to and the city government together with the local road authority was able to develop a solution with Lüft and present this to the community.

With the emotions running high with the residents the local city government decided to implement a large-scale live experiment with the Lüft flexible, modular traffic calming islands.
