UK-based Balfour Beatty Living Places has been awarded a two-year extension worth £55m by West Sussex County Council to continue its highways maintenance and improvement programme in the region.

The scope of the deal includes highway improvements such as safety fencing, resurfacing, footway, cycleway and carriageway reconstruction.

Balfour Beatty will also oversee maintenance works, including grass cutting, defect repair and reactive emergency response.

Regarding West Sussex County Council’s partnership with Balfour Beatty, cabinet member for highways and transport John O’Brien said: "We look forward to working closely with them again over the next two years.

Balfour Beatty Living Places managing director Amanda Fisher said: "Our expert teams will continue to work closely with West Sussex County Council to create great places to live, work and play for local residents."

Balfour Beatty has served as the highways alliance partner of the West Sussex County Council since July 2011.

Between 2014 and 2015, Balfour Beatty delivered more than 40 miles of carriageway resurfacing, and 38 community engagement and improvement projects.
