Global connected car services and movement analytics provider INRIX has launched a redesigned version of the latest navigation and traffic app INRIX Traffic app for iOS and Android users.

The app, which can be downloaded from Apple App Store and Google Play, has the ability to learn about a driver’s every day routine and preferences.

This helps INRIX Traffic to include the users’ favourite places automatically, without asking them to feed the details in manually.

The new app uses the drivers’ calendar and learns their driving habits with an aim to develop a personalised profile that includes automatic alerts, favourite destinations, anticipated trips, as well as preferred routes.

While other apps depend on customer input to provide information on traffic and incidents, the INRIX Traffic app uses a large crowd-sourced network of more than 275 million connected vehicles and devices to deliver an accurate map and real-time information to users.

The app can also monitor road conditions in order to inform the motorists in real-time about preferred departure times, optimal routes to destinations and changes in arrival times.

INRIX president and CEO Bryan Mistele said: "We designed INRIX Traffic with one specific vision: To help drivers move through their daily lives as quickly and efficiently as possible.

"The app uses our advanced traffic science to make even routine trips easier.

"Users want an app that is accurate, personalised and smart enough to work proactively for them, so we’ve integrated several highly advanced technologies into one all-encompassing app."

The app uses the crowd-sourced and free OpenStreetMap (OSM) that can generate high-quality map data as well as turn-by-turn navigation free of cost and without any advertisement.

The app users, on the other hand, can use it to report any traffic, accident or incident they come across along their route, as well as to send map feedback.

INRIX Traffic is built on the company’s new software development kit and integrated cloud platform, Autotelligent, which provides machine learning and route monitoring systems.
