An £88.4m project taken up by the Highways England (HE) to improve the road access to Port of Immingham is nearing completion with vehicles set to use the new bridge at Brocklesby junction.

The eastbound exit road on A180 to the A160 at Brocklesby interchange in addition to the eastbound road on the A180 between Brocklesby and the new Habrough roundabout will be shut down, which will in turn allow the new road to open for traffic.

Highways England project manager Ben Ridgeon was quoted by Highwaysmagazine.co.uk as saying: “This full weekend closure allows us to complete resurfacing work on the new bridge at Brocklesby so it can be opened to traffic along with the new A180 westbound entry slip road.

"We are advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys during the closure, and to take care and pay attention to the new road layout on Monday 12 September."

“Once complete, the Port of Immingham scheme, will improve access to the port and surrounding area.

"Traffic congestion will also be reduced, journey times will become more reliable, and safety will be improved for road users and the local community.”

A part of the HE project, the new construction works include upgradation of a three mile stretch of A160 between the A180 and the Port of Immingham into a dual road.

Closure of the roads will allow integration of the upgraded junction into the existing road.

The Port of Immingham is one of the busiest ports in the UK.
