US-based Xilinx has secured a contract from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) for Xilinx Automotive (XA) Zynq -7000 All Programmable SoCs to be used by LTA’s Intelligent Transport Systems.

The solution is expected to keep the country’s roads and tunnel systems safe, maximise road network efficiency capacity, as well as monitor and manage traffic flow.

"Our experts in technical, supply chain and quality are well-positioned at the local level to support real-time collaboration with the LTA."

Intelligent Transport Systems’ infrastructure spans more than 164km of expressways and road tunnel systems throughout land-scarce Singapore.

Xilinx global operations and quality senior vice-president and Asia Pacific executive leader Vincent Tong said: "Xilinx’s Asia Pacific headquarters has been based in Singapore since 2004, so our experts in technical, supply chain and quality are well-positioned at the local level to support real-time collaboration with the LTA, not to mention the proactive and responsive infrastructure support that our Asia Pacific customers have all come to rely on."

The company said that its XA Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoCs are qualified beyond the stringent automotive industry AEC-Q100 requirements, and are in full production at several OEM automakers for new advanced driver assistance systems.

XA Zynq-7000 product line is a basis of its growing automotive and transport business, and the company is claimed to be the only semiconductor manufacturer with a 28nm All Programmable SoC in full series production at automotive OEMs.

Xilinx director of automotive segment Nick DiFiore said: "Many of our automotive and transport customers have realised the unique benefits of the Zynq All Programmable SoCs in terms of performance, power, flexibility and system cost."
