Waze, a community based traffic and navigation application, has selected INRIX, a global company that provides connected car services, to supply its global parking data.

As part of the deal, INRIX parking lot information will now be incorporated into the Waze traffic and navigation application.

Through this new collaboration INRIX will be able to extend its smart driver services through Waze app, which would also improve urban mobility.

Waze head of business development Flavia Sasaki Siqueira said: “Driving around looking for spots impacts arrival times and adds unneeded frustration and stress to the entire driving experience.

“As the co-pilot for driver navigation, Waze has begun to rollout the first of its parking suite features to solve this issue for drivers.

"Combining INRIX parking information with our own parking database expands reach and accuracy of the ‘where to park’ feature.”

According to Frost & Sullivan, Strategic Analysis of Smart Parking Market in Europe and North America, April 2015, drivers wasted an average of 55 hours last year searching for parking, representing nearly $600M in lost time and fuel.

Waze also introduced a new feature in its app called 'where to park', which offers information to the drivers about the closest available parking lots at the destination point and guides them directly to the available parking space.

The Waze application is available for both Android as well as iOS users.

"The addition of INRIX Parking enhances Wazers’ end-to-end driving experience."

INRIX vice president and general manager of parking Alex Israel said: “Driving from point A to B is only part of the journey.

"The addition of INRIX Parking enhances Wazers’ end-to-end driving experience.”

INRIX parking data is incorporated into the Waze database, which comprises information about parking lots sourced by the Waze community and other company partners.
