US-based Xerox Corporation has launched Transit Matrix Solution, a computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) system.

Transit Matrix Solution provides information about the location of the vehicle, camera feed and messaging service, which helps agencies to make timely decisions, as well as improving service for riders.

The new solution from Xerox combines and simplifies vehicle operations, enabling integration, expandability and connectivity with matrixed communications on the bus and across the system.

The vehicle processor integrated on-board is an open platform designed for public transit sector to deliver high-performance.

The new system has been developed using industry standard modules for technological upgrade in the future.

Xerox local government America group president Mark Talbot said: "Transit Matrix equips agencies with the flexibility and connectivity needed to effectively manage fleets in challenging environments and situations.

Xerox Transit Matrix’s vehicle console is equipped with 10.4-inch touchscreen which supports multiple windows, provides route information, security and camera backup, as well as performance information.

Dispatchers, supervisors and maintenance workers will be able to access all the data instantly, which will help them evaluate performance indicators and ensure equipment is operating as intended, and buses are meeting published service schedules.

Xerox offers transportation technology services that include tolling, parking, mass transit and photo enforcement services. These services are used by government agencies in more than 30 countries.
