ELSAG SpeedEnforcer is an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) application that allows law enforcement a safer way to enforce speeding in hard-to-police areas such as school zones and work zones, bridges and tunnels. ELSAG ANPR fixed or mobile cameras are placed at the entrance and exits of zones that are difficult to enforce due to risk factors such as pedestrians or construction equipment or barriers.
ELSAG SpeedEnforcer calculates the speed of each vehicle traveling inside the zone, based on entry and exit times of the vehicle across a specified distance between the cameras. If the speed threshold is breached, ELSAG SpeedEnforcer instantaneously sends alarms to officers who are waiting outside the zone for interdiction in a safer place. ELSAG SpeedEnforcer also has the ability to trigger an automatic ticketing process.
Each read taken by both cameras includes the license plate number, speeds, photos, date and time stamps, GPS coordinates and any alarms generated. This data is stored on a central server and can be accessed at any time for analysis. ELSAG SpeedEnforcer helps law enforcement create safer environments for everyone on the road.
