VaxALPR On Camera is an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) application that can be embedded in AXIS camera processors.
Vaxtor Systems has redesigned its optical character recognition (OCR) engine to integrate the same analytics as in high-end processor architectures, ensuring VaxALPR On Camera provides accurate results for complex scenarios.
The solution is available for AXIS models that include ARTPEC-4 and ARTPEC-5 chips. OCR configuration takes place through a standard camera menu, which is accessible online.
When operated in triggered mode, The VaxALPR On Camera attempts to read license plates after receiving a signal or event from the camera input port.
This is useful for a range of scenarios, such as parking, when the solution is configured with ARTPEC-4 cameras. Depending on the video resolution and the size of the detection polygon defined by the user, the OCR recognition time may take between 0.5s and 3s.
Alternatively, the ANPR’s free-flow mode allows it to work continuously without requiring a trigger to operate. Licence plates are read and reported in real-time.
The solution can be integrated with cameras using the ARTPEC-5 chip for low-speed, free-flow scenarios up to 50km/h. For this configuration, OCR recognition can take between 0.3s and 1s.
Customers can also download VaxALPR On Camera Viewer, free software for monitoring OCR readings on PC.
