The first phase of a project for the construction and rehabilitation of roadways between Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia will be funded mainly by the African Development Bank (ADB).

This phase, valued at $293m, will also be funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the EXIM Bank of South Korea.

The phase will involve work on 365km of the total 1,033km of the project. About US $270m from the total will be used on the Mozambique section of the road.

Another US $34.14m will be given by the Mozambican Government.
