The Nigerian state of Lagos has released funds for the expansion and reconstruction of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway into a ten-lane highway.

The funding will be used to award contracts to clear space for the road.

The ten-lane carriageway will consist of five lanes on each side with BRT light corridor and light rail facilities.

The highway is aimed at improving economic activity in the Nigerian state.

Cheques covering 70% of the contract value were issued by Ganiyu Johnson, special adviser to the governor on works and infrastructure.
