SNC-Lavalin has received a C$142m ($139.2m) contract to develop a new expressway section in Canada.

The contract awarded by Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation and will involve designing and constructing a four-lane, 4km section of a divided expressway.

The section will link Winnipeg’s inland port to the James A. Richardson International Airport and the perimeter highway.

The contract also includes a system interchange, three grade separations, two major box culverts, 4km of new embankment fill and 4km of new concrete pavement.

The project is part of the new 10km CentrePort Canada Way in northwest Winnipeg, according to the Canada-based company.

The expressway is scheduled to be opened in 2014.
