Work on the Colombo-Katunayake Express Highway in Sri Lanka is expected to be complete by 2012.

The $292m project aims to reduce the travel time from Colombo to Katunayake to about 20 minutes.

The Sri Lankan Government aims to improve the highway network with similar projects, which are estimated to be completed within the next five years.

The Colombo-Matara Southern highway project should be operational by April next year while the Colombo-Kandy highway and the Outer Colombo highway are expected to be complete in 2015 and 2014 respectively.
