Star Tollways has revealed plans to invest about $150m to bid for road projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) draft master plan for tollways in the Philippines.

The company, which is backed by Hong Kong-based Cypress Tree, is giving particular priority to winning the “connector road” project, an overhead highway that will link the North Luzon Expressway and the Metro Manila Skyway.

Two companies, Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and the Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corp. have already submitted separate unsolicited proposals for the project, according to business.inquirer.net.

Star Tollways said it would prefer to join a straight auction and is interested in finding strong local companies to join up for the bidding process.

The company also plans to participate in the bidding for Toll Road Project 4 (TR4) to link South Luzon Expressway to Lucena City in the Quezon Province.
