The New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board in New Jersey, US, has awarded contracts for the road widening project in the region.

Pennsylvania-based PKF-Mark III received the $111.9m contract for the construction of a new bridge to carry I-195 over the widened turnpike.

The company will also build 2.3 miles of widened highway in both directions, with a new toll plaza, according to courierpostonline.com.

The authority has also awarded three contracts worth $25.5m for the final design of the project to construct shoulders to 16 miles of northbound and southbound parkway in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The contracts were awarded to Greenman-Pedersen, Michael Baker and Jacobs Engineering.

Work on the bridge will begin soon and will be complete in 2014, while construction of shoulders will be complete in 2013.
