PPES Works (Sarawak) has begun work to upgrade the 35.7km Beluru-Lapok Road in Malaysia.

The upgrade will cover the road, which runs between Baram district and Miri city, and connects the proposed site of the Baram hydroelectric project.

The road is currently made of gravel and earth, and will be upgraded to a paved surface.

The RM101.3m ($32m) Beluru-Lapok Road is part of an RM500m ($160m) road development plan undertaken by the state.

Work is expected to be complete by 2013, according to nst.com.
