The Arusha-Namanga road rehabilitation project in Tanzania is on schedule and is expected to be complete by July 2011.

The 105km road is undergoing massive rehabilitation at a cost of about TZS 82bn ($60m).

About 74km of the new road has been covered with Tarmac so far and work is underway on the remaining 31km.

The project is part of the East African Road Project under the East African Community, according to thecitizen.co.tz.

The African Development Bank and Japanese International Cooperation Agency have funded the project and China Geo Engineering Company is the contractor.
