The Illinois Department of Transportation in the US has allocated $84m for the extension of Illinois 255 and the widening and relocation of US Route 67.

The project will extend Illinois 255 in Alton north to US 67, which will turn US 67 highway into a four-lane expressway.

The project is spread into seven contracts, of which three bridges valued at $17m will be constructed now and another $4m will be used to relocate the US 67 bridge and extend it to Illinois 255.

The project will be complete by 2012 end, according to thetelegraph.com.

Construction of Illinois 255 road from Seminary road to US 67 requires $22m, while construction of five miles of US 67 from Godfrey to Delhi will require $41m.
