The Cardiff City Council in Wales, UK has completed the first phase deployment of Smart Parking bay sensor and SmartSpot technology in the city.

In the first phase, nearly 3,000 Smart Parking vehicle detection sensors have been installed in various parking bays.

The parking sensors detects and keeps track of the time a vehicle arrived in the parking bay and the time it has departed from the parking space.

They help motorists to find available parking space through a mobile application on their smartphones.

The City Council also revealed that these sensors will be deployed at certain other places where there is a high demand for parking spaces like local shopping areas outside the city centre and bay areas.

"In the first phase, nearly 3,000 Smart Parking vehicle detection sensors have been installed in various parking bays."

With the installation of this Smart Parking bay sensors, the City Council anticipates that it would improve usage of available parking spaces across the city, as well as would support local business, as it would help their customers to easily locate the available by parking spaces.

The installation of these sensors throughout the city will be completed in three phases, which will begin this month and would last for about 12 weeks in total.

The Council also revealed that they have deployed SmartSpot Gateways throughout Cardiff, which enables wide range services such as public broadband, safety video surveillance, air quality, and lighting control.
