The Indian Government has awarded contracts for four highway projects worth Rs15.5bn ($233m) to infrastructure company Punj Lloyd.

The highway projects are located in the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Punjab.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Won by Punj with a joint venture with VRC Constructions, the contract in Punjab has been offered by the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The $84.8m four-lane Bihar project includes the work on a 60km stretch on national highway (NH) 31 that covers the Simaria-Khagaria section.

The company has also won the construction contract of the 140km of the Khagaria-Purnea section on the same national highway.

The $76.7m Chhattisgarh project is a four/six-lane project that stretches for 48km on the Raipur-Simga section of NH200.

It includes the construction of a bypass and 22 other structures such as flyover, bridges and vehicular underpass (VUP).

The $58.6m Odisha project deals with renovation of the 50km four-lane of the Talebani to Sambalpur section of NH6.

The four-lane contract in Punjab works on 35km of the Tallewal-Barnala section of the NH 71.

The projects fall under phase four of National Highways Development Project (NHDP).
