The new South Bristol Link (SBL), which features a 4.5km express bus route and a roadway that includes new cycle and pedestrian paths, has opened in the UK.

This new road links the A370 at Long Ashton with the A38 and Hengrove Park.

The SBL will bolster access to Bristol Airport for passengers travelling by car from the north, east and west, although journey time reductions may be tempered in the short term by delays caused by road improvement works elsewhere in the local area.

The airport further stated that it will urge its official taxi provider, the Arrow Cars, to use the SBL in preference to alternative routes through local villages where possible. This is expected to help reduce traffic on local roads as well as provide better service to customers.

"Once SBL is fully operational, the airport authority intends to take up two other road improvement schemes."

Once SBL is fully operational, the airport authority intends to take up two other road improvement schemes.

Work is also planned for Hartcliffe Way and traffic moving out of the city will be directed to use alternative routes for a period of six months.

The diversion signage will be in place for both the schemes.
